New Installation Testing & Commissioning, NICEIC Electrical Installation Certificate on Every Project.
Every new electrical installation — or addition or alteration to an existing installation — must be inspected, tested and certified before it is put into service. This is a requirement of BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations) and is not optional. An NICEIC Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) is the evidence that the work has been carried out to the required standard by a competent contractor.
Barrow Electrical tests and commissions all new electrical installations as a standard part of our project delivery. We also provide testing and commissioning services for new installations carried out by other contractors where NICEIC certification is required.
Your questions, answered
What is an Electrical Installation Certificate?
An Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) is a document produced by a competent person confirming that new electrical work has been designed, constructed, inspected and tested in accordance with BS 7671. It records the details of the installation, the results of inspection and testing, and the limitations of the certificate. It is required for all new work under Part P of the Building Regulations and by BS 7671.
Can you test and certify work carried out by another contractor?
Yes. We carry out inspection and testing of new installations regardless of who carried out the installation work, and issue an NICEIC Electrical Installation Certificate where the installation is found to be satisfactory. Where deficiencies are found, we report them and can carry out remedial work.
