Commercial Solar PV Operations & Maintenance - Keep Your System Performing Over Its Lifetime.
- Barrow Electrical provides planned and reactive O&M contracts for commercial solar PV systems across the UK — whether we installed the system or not. NICEIC-certified electrical works on every visit.
We maintain systems we didn’t install
What Our O&M Service Covers
Annual inspection and performance review
Full site inspection covering panel condition, mounting system integrity, DC cabling and connections, inverter operation, AC protection devices and metering. Performance data reviewed against modelled yield. Written report issued with any recommendations.
Inverter monitoring and remote fault response
Remote monitoring of inverter performance with automated alerts for faults, communication failures and output anomalies. First-line remote diagnosis before any site visit is required. Most inverter faults can be diagnosed and often resolved remotely.
Reactive fault response
Site attendance for faults that cannot be resolved remotely. NICEIC-certified electrical diagnosis and repair. Target response times agreed at contract stage.
DC and AC electrical testing
Periodic testing of DC string voltages, insulation resistance and AC protection settings. Thermal imaging of DC connection boxes and inverter terminals to identify developing faults before they cause failure.
Panel cleaning (optional add-on)
Scheduled panel cleaning to maintain yield in environments with high soiling rates — industrial areas, agricultural settings, heavily trafficked locations.
Smart Export Guarantee administration support
Assistance with SEG tariff administration, metering records and annual reporting requirements for clients exporting surplus generation to the grid.
What clients ask before committing to battery storage
How often does a commercial solar PV system need servicing?
We recommend an annual inspection as a minimum for any commercial system. Higher-output systems or those in demanding environments may benefit from a six-monthly schedule. Our O&M contracts are tailored to your system size and operating environment.
What happens if my inverter fails?
Inverter faults are the most common cause of system underperformance. Under our O&M contract, we monitor inverter performance remotely and will alert you to any fault as soon as it is detected. Most faults can be diagnosed remotely; where a site visit is required, we attend within the response time agreed in your contract.
Can you provide O&M for a system you didn’t install?
Yes. We carry out a commissioning audit at the start of the contract to establish the system’s current condition. If we identify any pre-existing issues, we will report them before taking on maintenance responsibility.
Find out what solar could do for your site
We start every conversation with a free desktop review — your energy bills and site details in, a realistic yield and payback estimate out. No site visit required at this stage. No obligation to proceed. If the numbers work, we’ll tell you exactly why. If they don’t, we’ll tell you that too.
